A friend of mine who was visiting Wanaka encouraged me to come down to Lake Wanaka as the light was perfect, illuminating the clouds and casting inspirational reflections.
I arrived at the lake later than I would normally arrive. But my timing was perfect with regards to the light. The tree attracted a throng of photographers around it.
The lake level remains low, although it is raining at present.
As a landscape photographer, I am a keen weather and cloud watcher.
Due to the tree remaining out of the water, I decided to walk towards the light, a sensational sunrise, which was intense, I stepped into the lake wearing gum boots.
My camera was switched on, I started clicking away, not wanting to waste precious moments of incredible light.
The light remained strong for longer than I anticipated whilst I adjusted my camera on my tripod and altered my focal length on my lens.
During the autumn months in South Island, New Zealand, the clouds, infused with light, make for indescribable moments, to impress even the most casual observer.
