As we are on the eve of our departure from Wanaka, New Zealand, I thought it appropriate to translate thoughts into words!
On 1 June 2016, we left Australia for Wanaka. A population of approximately 7,000 people.
It was freezing cold when we arrived in Wanaka, the snow was thick and the chill factor impressive.
Within 12 hours we dropped 20 degrees C.
The next day I immediately embraced the icy conditions, purchased gum boots and stood in the shallow water of Lake Wanaka, and still got my feet wet!
I knew That Wanaka Tree was renowned around the world, but little did I realise the attention it attracted, until I arrived here!
That Wanaka Tree was the initiation of sharpening my photographic skills. Photographers are literally shoulder to shoulder in icy conditions, capturing the tree.
The winters are long and cold here. Most things in life involve an attitude or a decision. I decided the cold was not going to beat me!
Cracking the sheets and wrapping my body in layers of clothing, followed by walking into freezing water temperatures is not for the faint hearted, be rest assured of that!
I feel the cold, but God anointed me to ‘just do and be’!
The coldest morning, the temperature was -7 degrees C. I could have easily surrendered to the anticipation of stepping into the water, but I would not permit fear to rule me.
On other occasions, I have been in strong rapids in rivers, and in lakes where the water has opposed my being there and battered my body for the entire shoot, sometimes for several hours.
Arriving at shoot locations before daybreak to secure a good vantage point, particularly in high tourist areas, where the moon reflects its silver light upon the water, indescribable!
But, I keep on standing. Advancing into you dream and occupying it, involves more than words!
In Christ, I am more than a conqueror.
You need to be focused to the point of tunnel vision of where God intends you to be.
At the same time, I surround myself with people of influence.
Our time spent in New Zealand has been positively life changing!
We look forward to what God has planned for us in Australia!
Keith, thank you for always believing in me, your love and dedication go beyond words! You are loved and appreciated!
Here I am standing alongside the iconic That Wanaka Tree.
